Have you checked out the crafting ideas on the Country Living web site? I want to try them ALL! But I started with an easy one . . . frig magnets made from vintage jewels. I don’t have the brooches they suggest, but I have LOTS of clip-on earrings. Simply remove the backings and glue on a magnet . . . easy peasy and SO pretty! P.S. You can also click the blue dot on the CL home page to vote for the Reader’s Choice 2012 Blue Ribbon Blogger Award. It was really fun to check out all the finalists! ♥

Love it! Super cute and fun…
Thank you! They do make me smile! 🙂
I love your blingy magnets! I don’t have a magnetic fridge, but my winter crafting plans include taking apart inherited costume jewelry and making napkin rings. We’ll see how that plays itself out.
I LOVE that idea!!! So far I’ve only used mine for these magnets and centers for fabric flowers. I can’t wait to see what you make! 🙂
I’ve got a bunch of crafty posts in the hopper for the winter months. Too busy cooking fresh produce and taking photos right now!
Fun collection you’ve made there, I like how you’ve displayed them on your galvanized planter too. Jewelery was sure big at the time wasn’t it.
It was! I remember that my grandmother always wore a fancy bead necklace and matching earrings every time she “went calling” on her friends and neighbors and ESPECIALLY to church! On of my friends made some bracelets for me out of some of g-ma’s beads . . . I really love those. 🙂
Very cute!!!
Thank you! Right now I have them on the magnet board over my desk so I can admire them for awhile. 🙂 Oh, and I’ve already given one away for a little surprise gift! 🙂
way, WAY cool! My friend gave me a bunch of old jewelry to use on my purses, but I may try this with a couple of the pieces, just for fun. Thanks for sharing this idea!!
You’re very welcome! Have fun, and I can’t wait to see them! 🙂
You know this is my style, I love them !!
So pretty and girly, aren’t they??? 🙂
I don’t know why it posted me as anonymous? They are very pretty and girly 🙂
Great idea! They are very pretty 🙂
Thank you! I know I’ll find lots of uses for them . . . if I don’t end up giving them all away! 🙂
so used to using decorative brads for the center of my flower/vintage music magnets….this gives me another idea for a great center! thanks!
You’re very welcome! I love seeing your projects! 🙂
I just inherited a bunch of 80s and 90s clip-on earrings from one of my mother’s coworkers (I’m still not entirely sure why yet). This would be a great project to use some of them on!
You’ll have so much fun with them! They’re perfect for the centers of fabric flowers, too . . . . and I’m sure for lots of other things that I just haven’t discovered yet! 🙂
What a great idea! These remind me of my grandma’s jewelry box that I used to play in as a kid. ❤
Me, too! 🙂
and buttons too! my passion! They would make cute magnets. Think I will make some.
What a great idea! I can’t wait to see them! 🙂
SO cute!

Thank you! I hope you get to make some, too! 🙂
What a great idea for all those single earrings waiting for their missing mates to show up (never). Thanks. http://www.lizjfoxdesign.com.
You’re right!!! And so easy to do! Have a wonderful weekend, Liz! 🙂
Very cool idea – thanks for sharing.
You’re very welcome! And I loved reading about your day off! Good for you!!! 🙂
I just had to let you know I kept thinking about this idea all weekend!! I have a lot of my great grandma’s earrings and brooches and never knew what to do with them to display them in a good way! I finally took the plunge and did THIS!! I bought a cookie sheet and am going to attach a picture hanger to it and use it as wall art to display all my great grandma’s jewelry!!! Thanks for the idea!!
I SO love that idea!!! I can’t wait to see it! You’ll smile every time you walk into the room. Have fun!!! 🙂
Finally, an answer to my prayers. This will def be implemented with all the clip on earrings I received from my mother when she gave me all her old pieces. I’m so excited about this, and also feeling a little silly that I didn’t think of something like this in the first place. Lol. Oh well. Thanks.
Yay!!! Have fun! And I can’t wait to see yours! 🙂
The vintage jewelry makes lovely magnets. I think, though, if I were to change any of the jewelry I inherited from my mother, it would be to take off the clips and put posts on the earrings. Then they’d go with the brooches that I use as scarf pins. 🙂
I did that with some I got from my aunt . . . they turned out really pretty and I love wearing them. I’ll bet your brooches are lovely! 🙂
Love it! There are things that I would love to decorate but don’t want to put holes in them and glue might not hold. Magnets might solve the problem! Can’t wait to tell my mom about this one!
Yay! I can’t wait to see what you make! 🙂
Reblogged this on The Blushing Violet Jewelry and commented:
Neat idea for re-purposing vintage earrings (or really any flat earrings)!
