As you know, it has been raining surprises in my mailbox lately! Then my doorbell rang, and it was my friend and faithful Pillows A-La-Mode reader Audrey with a container of her world-famous bierocks . . . “just because.” They’re BEAUTIFUL to look at and MOUTHWATERING to taste! She was also gracious enough to send me her recipe to share with my blogging friends. Click the link below for a printable pdf, and prepare to be amazed! Thank you, Audrey! ♥ P.S. Update: For those new to this dish, a bierock is a mixture of beef, cabbage, and other goodies baked in a pocket of bread dough. Mmmmmm . . .

Yum!
They’re SOOOOO good!!! I’ve made them a few times and they do take awhile, but it’s TOTALLY worth it! And they’re WONDERFUL to have in the freezer . . . just pop one out and microwave for an amazing lunch! 🙂
That’s a good idea! By the way, I shipped your package this morning. Thank you again! I just love making those little hats. I hope the recipients love them too!
We have two new grandbabies, a boy and a girl, so I’ll be including your adorable hats in their Christmas packages! THANK YOU! 🙂
Looks look so yummy! I printed out the recipe can’t wait to try. My mouth is watering:)
You’ll love it!!! And I’m glad the recipe makes LOTS because they’re perfect to freeze and get out one or a few at a time for the best lunch ever. 🙂
Lucky you! I don’t eat beef but you probably could just make them with something else I guess. That’s a very cute vintage cloth you have them on too.
You can make them with just the cabbage or throw in a few other veggies, too . . . they’ll still be delicious! And I DO love that tablecloth! I remember my mom using it when we were little! 🙂
such a nice lady!
She IS!!! I’m so thankful for all my friends! 🙂
Ooh, I have to try these! Or better yet, I’ll ask my daughter to– she’s more of a baker. (I’m more of a cook.) They sound delish!
You’ll LOVE them!!! Mmm . . . I think I want to go get one right now! 🙂
I take that back– I want to make these myself! In the picture (tiny as it is on my phone), I thought they were a baked treat, but now that I’ve looked over the recipe, I can’t wait to make them! And coincidentally, my Thanksgiving leftovers are just about gone… ; )
I thought they were cookies 😉 look yummy!
Bread, meat, cabbage . . . mmm! 🙂 And they taste GREAT with a little dipping mustard! 🙂
Don’t you just love when somebody drops by with food?! I do! What a nice friend. 🙂
She IS!!! And this is such a special treat! 🙂
I think my kids would love these (and me!)
They’re SO delicious!!! I hope you get to try them! 🙂
What a nice surprise!
It was!!! She’s an angel. 🙂
These look and sound so good! Love cabbage and ground beef together : )
I hope you get to try them! You’ll love this recipe! 🙂
I looked at the pictures and thought these were cookies filled with jam or chocolate. Then I read the recipe and discovered they were something quite different, but also very tasty sounding and so good for a cold winter evening’s meal. Thank you for sharing the recipe!
Oops . . . I guess I should have explained a little better! 🙂 But I know you’ll enjoy them! 🙂
Im with Kerri…although i thought they were biskets of some kind…. and at first couldnt figure out why the recipie had beef….(Who bakes with beef lol) anyway i figured it out kinnda like a giant perogie …. might have to try it although we dont eat cabbage often my mother in law always buys a massive one and never seems to finish hers lol
I’ll add a bit to the post to clarify . . . I forgot that not everyone has had the pleasure of eating a bierock! 🙂
This recipe was one of my beloved mother-in-law’s most enjoyed dinners. But, I’ve got to know what part of the country you are in – Midwest? That is where she lived.
Yes . . . Kansas! And I found out through this post that not everyone has had bierocks! 🙂
Now we’re talking because we lived in Kansas for around thirty years. I even remember a restaurant in Lawrence where they offered only bierocks – every kind you can imagine. We still make them.
I lived in Lawrence for a year, too, when I attended KU. But I never discovered the bierock restaurant. 🙂 It’s an amazing city.
I have also never heard of a bierock, but I think they would make a perfect take-to-work-lunch 🙂 thank you to your friend for sharing and to you for posting!
They ARE perfect for work lunches! Just wrap in a paper towel and warm up for about 45 seconds. Mmm . . . I sure hope you get to try them! 🙂
yum! ive never heard of beirock but i’m definitely going to try it now!
You’ll LOVE it! 🙂
