One of my recent road trip embroidery projects is now paired with a fun music print to make a pillow! The credit for this idea goes to Darilyn at TheHighNoteDotNet who graciously shared this lovely quote by author Bertold Auerbach. And, if embroidery isn’t your medium of choice, she will email you an iron-on transfer to use on a pillow, T-shirt, or other fabric craft . . . how sweet is that!!! P.S. The red one is from my flower pillow collection, and here’s a link to another music pillow from my very first month of blogging! ♥

I just love this pillow, and the verse is wonderful. Great job !!
Thank you! I love the simple front and busy back . . . and yes, the lovely quote! 🙂 Be sure to check out Darilyn’s blog to get the transfer . . . I know you’ll do something marvelous with it! 🙂
what a great quote! the music note fabric on the back is fabulous, too. it looks great paired with the red pillow!
Thank you!!! 🙂 I do love that music note fabric! I have some left, too. For some reason I always buy one yard, and a pillow takes so little of that yard! More projects, right?! 🙂
I do the same thing! It’s always good to have leftovers 🙂
The quote is fantastic and I love the musical fabric. Is the quote something original to Darilyn? I think it would be great on a musical card as well. I wonder if she would mind if I used it as long as I gave her credit for it?
Click on the link and you can ask her! 🙂 I’m just sure she will share, though. I LOVE the idea of using it on a card! 🙂
I actually did pop by her blog and posted the question in her comments section. Thanks! 🙂
both pillows are lovely!! and what a wonderful quote!
Thank you! 🙂 Be sure to check Darilyn’s blog and get the iron-on transfer for one of your projects! 🙂 And I love the red pillow, too! I gave my other flower pillows away, but I love having this one in my black and white office/sewing room! 🙂
It is a very elegant pillow! I was wondering if you could make a post about homemade cell phone holders/cell phone purses…I can’t seem to find a good site online that gives me details.
I’ve never made one! But I’ll see if I can find a good tutorial to try out! It sounds like fun . . . thanks for the idea! 🙂
Wonderful!I Do love music!
It’s definitely the universal language, isn’t it! 🙂 Thank you, Curls! 🙂
thanks for the reference! the pillow, of course, turned out amazing! i wish i could take all the credit for the awesome saying, but it is originally from the author Bertold Auerbach.
the fabric on the back is adorable….where are you going to put this beauty?
Thank you for sending me the original author’s name . . . I should have asked so I could have added it to the embroidery! Next time! 🙂 I think I’m going to enjoy the pillow in my office for awhile and then donate it to a silent auction my church’s youth group has in the fall to earn money for their mission trips. That way it will be twice loved! 🙂 Thank you again for the inspiration! 🙂
I just updated the post with the author’s name . . . I appreciate it! 🙂
I love this! Such a great use of a quote for a fun and decorative pillow!!
Thank you! I do love embroidering fun quotes . . . they take awhile, but it’s totally worth it! 🙂
Love these pillows!
Where did you find the musical fabric? Would love to get some for my office…
I got it at a friend’s quilt shop . . . but I’ve seen it at Jo-Ann and other fabric stores, too. Usually it’s black with a white background, but I was happy to find one with the black on a muslin-colored background since that’s the color I wanted to use for the front. I hope you find something you like! 🙂
Thank you – how nice to have a friend with a fabric store!!!
Lovely fabrics and embroidery too 🙂 Avis x
Thank you, Avis! 🙂
I love those pillows!! I love the colors too!!
Hugz Blondie
Thank you, Blondie! I go a little crazy for pillows, don’t I? 🙂
Beautiful simplicity. Love it. I went over to your road trip blog and also love those buttoned flowers.
Thank you, Liz! As you can tell from my blog name, making pillows is my go-to project. There are just so many possibilities! 🙂
Beautiful! I really like it! It makes for a cool pillow!
Thank you! I hope you’ll get one of the transfers from Darilyn (see link) . . . they’re super-pretty and I’m sure you could do something very creative with it! 🙂
I’ll go check them out! thanks for the tip!
Jealous of your embroidery skills!
I only know a few stitches, but I really love using it to a-la-mode my projects! I hope you’ll try it sometime! 🙂
I love this! Beautiful:)
These are so pretty… Love the added flowers on the red one.
Thank you! I made a few more flower pillows at the same time at
https://pillowsalamode.wordpress.com/2012/06/11/flower-pillows/. They’ve made great gifts . . . but I kept the red one to jazz up my black and white office. 🙂
Love it!
