Birthday Surprise!

Standard

TinCard from ShannonWe had our “Walker Family Christmas” yesterday, and when my daughter-in-law Shannon walked in with this cute owl tin, little did I know that a surprise birthday party was inside!  A few weeks ago, Shannon secretly emailed as many of my blogging friends as she could and invited them to join in a card shower for my birthday today, and W-O-W, was I ever showered!  I stayed up until all hours last night reading and shedding some tears over the beautiful cards and sweet messages from all over the world.  I can’t thank Shannon enough for this incredibly thoughtful gesture, and I can’t thank YOU enough for being my wonderful friends and encouragers.  As this card that Shannon made for me says, “One kind word can warm three winter months.”  New Year blessings to all of you, with love from Pillows A-La-Mode. ♥

  1. I did send my ‘card’ to Shannon on the 19th and I hope it wasn’t lost in the email system. All the best, and you surely deserve a big celebration, and our best wishes. (Just in case it was lost, please let me know and I’ll send it to you again.) xx

    • You, too, Laura! And I L-O-V-E the fabric postcard you sent! It’s the first one I’ve ever seen and it’s such a treasure! Oh, and I got my yearly blog report from WordPress today and this was on it: “The busiest day of the year was November 28th with 702 views. The most popular post that day was LC’s Cottage.” How cool is THAT??? Happy New Year, Laura, and thanks for being such a great friend! Hugs, Katherine

      • I am thrilled that my fabric postcard is the first that you have ever seen…that is fun and really makes it special! I got my blog report today too, but haven’t read it yet…been a busy day. You just made it fabulous by telling me about your report. Love, love, love it! Thanks!

  8. A very happy birthday to you! I still have my card for you but hadn’t gotten to send it to Shannon as my mother ended up in the hospital! But I always say birthdays should at least be a week long celebration anyhow 😉 I hope you all had a great holiday and a very happy birthday!

  12. Happy Birthday from Melbourne , Australia. I sent you a card a couple of weeks ago and I hope you got it. What a fun and clever idea. “Card Shower”

  13. I wish for you a (belated) very happy birthday and many more just as joyful if not more so than this one was! I meant to send a card as your daughter had contacted me, but health issues here kept me tied up at home to much to get out and about much, but I hope it was a wonderful day for you and wish only wonderful days ahead! Happy birthday!!!

  14. WOW! That says a lot Katherine. What a blessing! I love seeing people showered with love while they are alive. Sometimes, we get it backwards and do these kinds of things after a person is already gone. So, I’m glad you are alive and well to experience some of what you have given to so many people. You go girl!!!!!!

  15. Happy belated birthday and Happy New Year! What a lovely surprise — so thoughtful! I’m so glad that I found your blog this year; I’ve so enjoyed reading all your creative ideas. All the best in 2013!

  16. Katherine,
Happy Belated Birthday! Shannon had a wonderful idea and I was so honored to be included on her list. I am late in responding, due to some technical problems with my blog. Anyway, I know you had a wonderful birthday! Happy New Year!

    • Thank you, Vickie! And thank you for the BEAUTIFUL card (with a PILLOW on it!!!) . . . AND the lovely card you made for Shannon, too! We were both so touched. You’re one amazing lady! Hugs, Katherine
