A year or so ago I had fun making some vintage earring magnets but I’ve given them all away, so it was time for another batch. Simply use pliers to pull the hardware from a clip earring, then superglue a sturdy magnet on the back! Then I had a chance to go to a new-to-me antique store last week, and I found a vintage metal tray to use as a magnetic memo board . . . a perfect match!Β β₯
P.S. What are the memos, you ask?
- Top Left—A recipe for “Peachy Spread” (to serve on quick breads) from my friend Janice: Mix together 4 ounces of cream cheese, 3 tablespoons of baby food peaches, and 2 tablespoons of brown sugar. This will keep in the refrigerator for a few weeks.
- Top Right—“When you lie down, you will not be afraid; when you lie down, your sleep will be sweet.” (Proverbs 3:24)
- Bottom Left—A photo for a project I can’t wait to make . . . the ANNY BAG from my bloggy friend of It’s Sew Anny!
- Bottom Right—Adorable Josh . . . our youngest grandson! β₯
How fun! What a great idea!

Thank you, Zhenya! It’s a really fun way to use some bling! π
How thrilled I am to see the Anny Bag on your vintage memo board! Thank you!! Enjoy!
It keeps being my “next” project . . . but then something with a deadline comes up (now it’s Halloween costumes . . .) but I just know I’m going to love making your bag pattern, Anny! π
Cute!
Thank you, Elizabeth! π
What a brilliant idea
Thank you, Allison! π
Finally something to do with all of my earring orphans!
And something to look for on your shopping trips, too! π I was lucky to get tons of clip-ons from my aunts and grandmas . . . they’re SO pretty, and my friends love getting these magnets for little gifts! π
Very pretty !!
Thank you, Izabel! π
that’s a different use for an old tin tray! Brilliant idea!
Thank you, Alison! Those vintage trays are SO pretty, aren’t they? π
Just perfect! Looks great!
Thank you! It was fun hunting for that tray! π
I have a lot of old costume jewelry that would work for that. Just finding such a pretty tray may be a bit harder but I’ll look around. I love it. Cute grandson. Lucky you. Thanks for the inspiration.
I just love those old clip earrings! And hunting for the tray was fun, too. I’ll look forward to see what you find and make! π P.S. I think Josh is a cutie, too . . . and I AM a lucky grandma! π
so clever and so simple … great idea
Thank you! That vintage bling just makes me smile! π
Great idea – and it would look perfect in my mom’s kitchen with all of her vintage finds. I’ll have to be on the lookout for older earrings now.
Ooohhh . . . I think she’ll love that! And I’ve figured out that it’s lots more fun visiting antique shops when I’m on the lookout for something specific. Enjoy your hunt, Heidi! π
So pretty and unique!
Thank you, Lisa! π
What a great idea. I have to try this!!!

It is a good idea but Josh stole the show. Soooo sweeet! π
I TOTALLY agree with you! He’s such a sweetie!!! π

Thanks Katherine but you have me beat by a mile…I do admire you… π
Love this idea! Now to find those old trays I had…
Thank you, Ginny! I just love those trays. This one was $6 at the antique store (which suited me perfectly!) but I saw some that were in the $70-80 range! So they must be popular items these days. π
Absolutely creative and awesome! Great work!

Love this idea – I’m looking for something to use for a magnetic board for my sewing room, and was gonna use one of my old cookie sheets. I like this idea better, though; it fits the decor of this house (which we’ve named Creekside Cottage). And . . . AND . . . I just ‘happen’ to have some of those adorable vintage earrings a friend gave me. Woo hoo! You just keep having great ideas and I’ll just keep using them! π
Yay!!! That sounds just perfect for your room! Have fun making it! π And I LOVE the name of your home . . . it sounds so cozy! π
Yup, it’s pretty cozy…that’s the word realtors use for ‘small,’ I discovered. π But we’re OK with that; we actually like it this small, easier to take care of, and forced me to downsize.
so pretty, love this idea very much Katherine π
Thank you, Ingrid! Lots of these earrings were my aunt’s, and I think she’d be smiling right now to see how everyone is enjoying them in a new way! π
How come I keep missing all your cute posts….me not likey!!!!
π
Cute cute cute cute!
Thank you! Bling, bling, bling! π
I just love those old trays… Beautiful!
It was such a fun find! π
This is very cute! x
Thank you, Amy! π
I can’t wait to make one of these for myself! I’m thinking they would also make such wonderful gifts. Christmas is right around the corner & the metal tray is the perfect thing to look for in thrift stores and at garage sales! π Thanks for the great idea! I hope I can find one where I can use seashells for the magnets.
What a lovely idea!!! I can’t wait to see your finds and makes! π
This is a fun and adorable idea! I love the idea of using a vintage tray along with the magnets. Pinning!
Also will be sharing it on my FB page this week!
How sweet of you! π
Thank you, Maysem! The magnets were fun to make, and the tray was fun to find! π
