Life Right Now . . .

Standard

I’ve joined a “club” that some of my favorite people belong to but I’d hoped never to join . . . the Breast Cancer Club. My particular diagnosis involves 6 months of chemotherapy, then a mastectomy, then radiation. However, I have wonderful doctors and the best family/friend support group anyone could ever hope for, and I’m being showered daily with prayers and lovingkindness, so I’ve got this!

My blog will be on hiatus for awhile, but first I want to share something with you. A couple of years ago, my sweet granddaughter Ally drew the picture at the left for me while we were traveling somewhere in the car, and it’s been hanging on my wall ever since. Last night, she was stroking my hair, knowing that I’ll be losing it soon, and suddenly asked for a piece of white tape. A few minutes later, she showed me what she wanted it for . . . to change my crazy reddish hair into a chemo cap. Children are so perceptive and loving!

All shall be well! ♥

  11. Oh, dear–not a club we’d want you to find yourself in. You sound like you have the most positive attitude, though, and I know that that, plus the love of family like your sweet granddaughter, will help you beat this! We’ll be here, when you’re ready to come back!

  12. Oh dear! I am sorry to hear of your new club membership, but feel confident that you will come out well on the other side.

I hope that you will find time and energy to pop in now and then to let us know how things are going, but so appreciate you telling us and letting us know where you are headed in life.

    Love the picture, too.

    Sending strong thoughts to you.

  13. Not a club to join, but you certainly aren’t alone. I have one acquaintance and one friend fighting that same battle right now. I know you will do fine because you have a granddaughter who loves you and that will keep you going. I ran into a woman over the weekend who told me she was a breast cancer survivor of 36 years. 🙂 If there is anyone in your family who has access to your blog, and ‘if’ you want to keep it going I’m betting some of your readers would be willing to submit a post to keep it current. I volunteer if that is anything you are interested in. But, if you need to concentrate on your medical path, then you go get well and we’ll look forward to hearing from you when you get back. Please know prayers and wishes for a full recover are headed to Kansas from NH. 🙂

  14. Hi Katerine, I had breast cancer last year 2015, I had mastectomy, chemotherapy and radiation plus medication. I am fine now and back to work.
I did it and you can do too !! My prayers and my heart is with you !!
    God Bless, Izabel and family

  15. I’m so sorry to hear that. My mother-in-law finished up her radiation this spring after a lumpectomy. You’ll be in my thoughts and prayers! Best wishes! You can get through it!

  16. Hi Katherine……we’re with you all the way. Please let me send you a Zonta Breast care cushion. We make them for women who have had breast surgery. I will send you the link to the post and if you can give me your address I will ship one to you. Jane xxxx

  17. Aww! Not any kind of club we want to join…I wish you well through your treatment. One of my dearest friends had cancer a couple years back and even after a massive stroke, he kept his spirits up. I hope that carries you and your support group through this journey. hugs!

  18. Bless your heart. My healing prayers and thoughts are with you. (((hugs)))
What a loving attentive granddaughter you have. She sounds like a true angel and a blessing to be around. 🙂

  19. So sorry to read of your news. In addition to all your great doctors and loving support around you, a great resource concerning anything health related is Dr. Christiane Northrup http://www.drnorthrup.com. Her books such as ‘Women’s Bodies, Women’s Wisdom’ and website provide another form of wonderfully optimistic support.

  20. That is a terrible club to be in, but one whose members will support you and care for you. I am glad to hear that you have strong support from family and friends and know you have positive thoughts, many prayers, and well wishes coming from NJ. Best to you. 💜💜💜

  21. Sending you lots of prayers and hugs in your treatment and recovery my friend! I am so glad that you have a wonderful family and friends support system! Get well fast! Hugz Lisa and Bear

  22. I’m so sad you have to go through this! I will be praying for you. Sweet Ally! She’s a jewel – just like her grandmother. 🙂 I’m so glad you have good support and doctors. As in all things, God’s got this! We’ll miss you while you are away focusing on getting back to full health. Meanwhile, I’ll be praying for you. You are added to my list. Big hugs! 🙂

  23. I’m so sorry to hear this, and the hard path you have to go through to get to the other side to join the happier club of those who have beat it. My prayers and thoughts are with you.

  24. I’m catching up on emails and just saw this. I’m so very sorry. Wish I lived closer to bring you some meals for the journey. Please keep focused on all the club members that have fought and won the battle. I will be praying for you and hope you feel like updating us ever so often.

  25. I so don’t like this at all. Where is the dislike button, anyway? I loved the picture that your granddaughter drew and how you were smaller than her with that red hair sticking out and I loved that she remembers that you carry a little purse on your arm. What a sweet memory she has of you. Thanks for sharing your story with us. I am thinking happy thoughts and my prayers are with you every day. Special Hugs are being sent your way, did you feel that? Tamara

  26. YES, all will be well. I am of course very sorry to hear this, but I know you will get through the treatments with grace and humour. And hair is overrated anyway.
Helps to have all that lovely love ❤ ❤ xxx Thinking of you.

  27. The picture is so sweet, and the interaction with your granddaughter. Children seem to have an other worldly sense sometimes, don’t they?

Wishing you strengthen through this new development in your life.

  28. Hi Katherine, just to let you know your were on my mind. Alys shared your news and we’re both wishing you a healthy recovery. Thanks for sharing your touching story. Losing all the hair is a just a chance for a do over 😀 Maybe you’ll like it super short. Gentle hugs. K

  29. I’m so sorry to hear this, Katherine. You will be in my prayers.
Last November my Uncle found out that he had cancer that had spread throughout his body. He had put off going to the doctor until he was so weak he could barely walk. The doctor told him that he wasn’t a candidate for chemo or radiation and he told him he had maybe three months to live. My Uncle was able to get on a regimen of cannabis oil and I just found out yesterday that at his last doctor’s appointment he found out that he’s completely cancer free after 7 months of taking this oil. I pray that you are able to heal completely and that God gives wisdom and guidance to your entire medical staff and that you have peace and comfort during this difficult journey. (((Hugs)))

  30. Oh Katherine- I don’t know where you are on your journey by now– but I am stopping to pray with you for hope and healing, for medications the do their work and for doctors who are so wise and care well for you… And for peace and an abiding sense of God’s presence with you in these days… Hugs from here to you, blog friend.
