Guess what??? My sweet daughter-in-law Christin and I ran our first-ever 5K today!
Our route took us around the river in Wichita, KS where we saw lovely grass, flowers, trees, birds, bridges, and statues.
We got t-shirts, medals, chocolates, and champagne when we crossed the finish line.
The race directors had inspirational quotes all around, and we helped earn money for lymphoma research.
Dave, Kyle, Ally, and Kira were there to cheer us on. And the weather was PERFECT!
What a fun way to start the weekend . . . thank you for being my running buddy, Christin! ā„
Yay! Well done to the both of you
Thank you, Alison! š
š
Congrats to you both! Your support is of good. Thanks for sharing, Mtetar
Thank you, Mtetar! š
Always soooo welcome Katherine! Blessings, Mtetar
Wow! That’s wonderful Katherine! Congratulations to you and your daughter-in-law! I might even have been motivated enough with chocolates and champagne! LOL!
So happy that you could earn money for such a good cause!
Thank you, Laura! And did you notice that our little medals say, “I ran for chocolate”? You’re right . . . it’s the perfect motivator! š
oh so true!!! congrats!! š
Thank you, Geraldine! š
Congratulations Katherine!
Thank you, Jill! š
Wow! You look awesome!!!! Way to go! The chocolate part is even better!! LOL! Hugs……
Thank you, Doreen! And the medal even says, “I ran for chocolate!” š
LOL!
Good for you:)
Thank you, Vicky! š
5K? Man, what an accomplishment! I could not even make it to the end of my street! WAY TO GO! Thank God you had a great running buddy and a great cheering team to root you on too! Congratulations to all of you!
I agree . . . it made a huge difference to have Christin and our family there! Yay for the encouragers in our lives!!! š
How cool is this?! Way to go! Mark and I are training for a bike ride later this fall…it’s fun to do things like that with a buddy! (And props to you for taking on running…I’m a wuss when it comes to running. Give me pedals, though, and I’m all over it!)
You would LOVE my dad, Lauren . . . he’s a great-grandpa who rides his bike around 3,500 miles every year . . . including 100-mile rides to celebrate his birthdays! š
Congratulations! I am running/walking a 5K tomorrow here with my daughter and her 7 friends and their moms: the Color Run! It ought to be a blast.
I’ve heard of the Color Runs . . . that sounds like SO much fun! Can’t wait to hear about it!!! š P.S. We walked part of the way, too! š
Fantastic! I admire people that run, especially for good causes! Great accomplishment! (I would only run if someone were chasing me….and then it would depend on WHO was behind me!)
š
That made me laugh! We’re NOT fast . . . we got passed almost immediately by a jogging grandmother pushing a STROLLER and never saw her again! š
So proud of you! What an accomplishment, and for a good cause!
Thank you, Anny! It was really fun . . . but I may stick to walking from now on! š
Congratulations! Good job.
Thank you! It was a fun morning, that’s for sure! š
Awesome; go you!!
Thank you, Becky! š
Congratulations…I am so proud of you!!!!
Thank you, Antionette! š
admire both of you…how neat!
Thank you, Marilyn! š
Most impressive effort!
Thank you, Jennifer! š
WOW Katherine, you rock. Sounds like you and Christin had a lot of fun. Way to go š
Thank you, Boomdee! š Oh, and I have recently fallen in love with your favorite color! Now I want to redo the house! š
Turning the world in one giant Aqua Dream World one reader at a time……mwa-ha-ha-ha (evil laughter ensues). xK
Wow!! That is an achievement. I heard the other day about a guy who called his dog 5k because he enjoyed saying “I like to run 5k before breakfast” You however really did it. š
What a funny story! I might have to use that one! š I’m going to stick with 5K-ing . . . but probably walking instead of running . . . much easier to enjoy the scenery that way! š
OMG Katherine that is wonderful! You go girl. š
Thank you, Tamara! I love it that you can imagine our beautiful route, since you’ve likely seen it in person! š
Well done. Sounds like you had a great time for an excellent cause. š
Thank you, Linda! We were SO thankful for the beautiful, cool morning since Kansas has been super-hot lately! š
Well done to both of you! I love the inspirational quote too!
Thank you! And I just love that quote, too. It speaks to all of life, doesn’t it? š
Congratulations. I tip my hat to anyone who hits the asphalt and stays in shape by running. It is a commitment but it certainly pays off in many ways.
Thank you, Judy! I decided that I want to dance at all my grandchildren’s weddings when I get old, so I’d better start getting in shape! š
I could almost be convinced to run for chocolate and champagne myself. Congrats – that’s really impressive.
Thank you, Heidi! And yes . . . the rewards at the end were definitely fun! š
Congratulations Katherine !! Amazing job š
Thank you, dear Izabel! š
Ok, you’ve shamed me into it. I’ll have to step up my game and do a whole 2 miles on the treadmill now. Still holding on to the rails but at least I’m moving again. 5 K is phenomenal! All for such a good cause. Congrats on starting and then finishing the race. That’s a big accomplishment. Love the quotes.
Good for you!!! I’m terrible at treadmills . . . I even got “folded up” in one when I tripped one time . . . too bad someone didn’t have a video camera nearby! š But I love walking/running at the track at the Y and especially love walking outdoors when weather permits. I listen to audiobooks at the same time, which is VERY motivating! š
That is so cool! Love your pink laces, too! Hugs and Love – Susan
Thank you, Susan! I wanted pink shoes but they didn’t have them in my size, so I settled for pink laces! š
Well done on your first 5K! I’m working up to a 5K race too, fun isn’t it?
It really is! I loved all the excitement in the air (and seeing everyone’s racing outfits, too!) Keep up the great work! š
Thanks, I will!
Congratulations! Brad told me that you finished (not that I had any doubt). You should be so proud that you set a goal a little while ago and you’ve now completed the goal! Miss you!!! xoxox
Thank you, Danielle! I miss you, too!!! Hugs from your favorite mother-in-law! š
Awesome!!!! You go girl!!
Thank you, Cackie! š
Congratulations! That is something to be proud of.
Thank you, Ginny! š
Katherine ~ So awesome! Congrats how was the champagne & chocolates? You really do do everything š
That’s so sweet . . . thank you, Pam! š P.S. I gave my chocolates to our fan club–my husband Dave and our granddaughters Ally and Kira. I thought they deserved a little treat for the LONG wait for us to make it to the finish line! š
I bet they were thrilled when you made it to the finish line…and the LONG wait didn’t matter at all….:) Congrats again!
Whou hou Katherine! I’m very happy and proud of you! YAY! Congratulations! š & also congratulations for helping the lymphoma research; great cause! š
Thank you, Ingrid! You’re a GREAT cheerleader! š
Congrats to you two!! Rio and the Olympics next š
š
congrats!! such an awesome accomplishment! (if I got chocolate and champagne after every time I ran, I might do it more often! lol)
I know . . . perfect motivation, right??? š Thank you, Jennie! š
