Sign GirlsGuess what??? My sweet daughter-in-law Christin and I ran our first-ever 5K today!

Our route took us around the river in Wichita, KS where we saw lovely grass, flowers, trees, birds, bridges, and statues.

We got t-shirts, medals, chocolates, and champagne when we crossed the finish line.

The race directors had inspirational quotes all around, and we helped earn money for lymphoma research.

Dave, Kyle, Ally, and Kira were there to cheer us on. And the weather was PERFECT!

What a fun way to start the weekend . . . thank you for being my running buddy, Christin! ā™„

  1. Wow! That’s wonderful Katherine! Congratulations to you and your daughter-in-law! I might even have been motivated enough with chocolates and champagne! LOL!
So happy that you could earn money for such a good cause!

  2. 5K? Man, what an accomplishment! I could not even make it to the end of my street! WAY TO GO! Thank God you had a great running buddy and a great cheering team to root you on too! Congratulations to all of you!

  3. How cool is this?! Way to go! Mark and I are training for a bike ride later this fall…it’s fun to do things like that with a buddy! (And props to you for taking on running…I’m a wuss when it comes to running. Give me pedals, though, and I’m all over it!)

  4. Wow!! That is an achievement. I heard the other day about a guy who called his dog 5k because he enjoyed saying “I like to run 5k before breakfast” You however really did it. šŸ™‚

  5. Ok, you’ve shamed me into it. I’ll have to step up my game and do a whole 2 miles on the treadmill now. Still holding on to the rails but at least I’m moving again. 5 K is phenomenal! All for such a good cause. Congrats on starting and then finishing the race. That’s a big accomplishment. Love the quotes.

  6. Good for you!!! I’m terrible at treadmills . . . I even got “folded up” in one when I tripped one time . . . too bad someone didn’t have a video camera nearby! šŸ™‚ But I love walking/running at the track at the Y and especially love walking outdoors when weather permits. I listen to audiobooks at the same time, which is VERY motivating! šŸ™‚

    • That’s so sweet . . . thank you, Pam! šŸ™‚ P.S. I gave my chocolates to our fan club–my husband Dave and our granddaughters Ally and Kira. I thought they deserved a little treat for the LONG wait for us to make it to the finish line! šŸ™‚

      • I bet they were thrilled when you made it to the finish line…and the LONG wait didn’t matter at all….:) Congrats again!
