Embroidered Eyeglass Case

Standard

CaseWhen I went through my mom-in-law’s fabric box, I found a burlap square stamped on the right half with this lovely floral design.

I couldn’t wait to embroider it!

Then I paired it with one of the fun fabrics from my Make & Mingle kit and stitched them together into a lined eyeglass case.

I’ll really love carrying this summery, sentimental handiwork! β™₯

  1. What a pretty case! I love the look of embroidery, but I have never been good at making my stitches look nice. Years ago I tried ‘liquid’ embroidery, but certainly not the same. Lol.
Thanks for sharing this and enjoy your weekend! ~Vickie

    • Thank you, Vickie! My grandmother taught me to embroider when I was around 10 years old. She had to do French knots for me back then . . . actually, I kept asking her to “please show me one more time” until they were done. πŸ™‚ Oh, and I wanted to tell you something! Remember that beautiful butterfly card I won in your giveaway? I added a note and sent it to my good friend who lost her brother this week. She absolutely loves it. Thank you again! And you have a marvelous weekend, too!

      • I am so glad you were able to use the butterfly card. I like making note cards, since they can be used for so many reasons.
The only good stitch I can embroider is the French knot!
Looking forward to you next creation!

    • Don’t you just LOVE those flowers? I have an antique washtub that my great-grandparents used, and for some reason these are the only flowers that thrive in there. And they’re extra pretty this year! πŸ™‚

  2. I love this! I’m inspired to sew up my own. So nice that you got to re-use a sentimental piece. Also, taking the picture of the finished case on the portulaca, was a lovely choice.

    • Thank you, Vanessa! πŸ™‚ It was a beautiful day so I decided to take the photos outside, and when I saw my washtub of moss rose I couldn’t resist! πŸ™‚ P.S. I LOVE your creations . . . and the stories behind them!

  3. It is lovely. It is like a small part of your loved one that you can have with you. I have been inspired by your “what can you make with?” which I hope to post soon.

  4. What a beautiful eyeglass case! You did such a beautiful job on the stitching! By the way, what kind of flowers are your case sitting on? I love those, but always forget what they are.

    • Oh, you’re so sweet! Believe me, I have some *FAILS.* I should put them on my blog sometime to keep things real, right? πŸ™‚ This was especially so in my baking spree the past couple of weeks . . . let’s just say that a couple of things went straight from the oven to the trash! But I’m salvaging one cake that fell completely apart by turning it into a trifle with layers of blueberries and whipped cream. πŸ™‚

  5. I love this project! It is a funny coincedence that this week I have also dug out some embroidery and feel really inspired to complete a few UFO’s that have been sitting around. As always, it is a pleasure to visit your blog for inspirational instructions and gorgeous photos!

  6. Lovely to recycle and come up with something new Kathryn .. you are so good at these projects ! Love the bobbly embroidery stitches for the flowers and that butterfly is really cute πŸ™‚
