Do you ever squeal with delight when you see a blog post? Of course you do! 🙂 That’s what happened when I saw the DIY Poppy Teapot from the lovely Natalie of La gang à Nat. Seriously, go look at it now right HERE. Isn’t it gorgeous??? And all I could think of was that I had a plain white sugar bowl and creamer that I’ve used for YEARS, and wouldn’t they look LOVELY with Natalie’s poppy a-la-mode? So I emailed her to make sure I could copy her design and post it here, and she said YES! (She’s VERY nice!) The only difference is that I used Sharpies since I already had them on hand and then baked the items in the oven at 350 degrees for 30 minutes to set the color. I just LOVE them . . . thank you, dear Natalie! ♥

I’m going to have to ask the dumb question here…..do you mean Sharpies as in the brand of permanent colour marker pens? So you just drawn straight on with no prep and then bake them?…….sounds too simple and too good to be true!
Yes, those Sharpies! I’ve been seeing lots of Pinterest and blog posts about it and had wanted to try, and it works great! I’m sure I won’t put these in the dishwasher (just in case . . . ) but handwashing hasn’t affected the color at all. Good luck! 🙂

What a fab tip re sharpies. The possibilities are running amok in my mind. My son is quite a talented artist and I had no idea one could do this. We have a saying for your set “squeal inducingly cute!” 🙂

Yes! I’ve seen tons of these on Pinterest and other blogs . . . and it’s really that easy! I HAVE read that a few people have had trouble with the designs fading after putting them in the dishwasher, so I’m going to handwash just in case. I hope you get to try it! 🙂

I can’t draw, either! But the way Natalie shows the steps (kind of like those “How to Draw A . . .” books) it was SO easy . . . just some shapes, lines, and dots. You could play around with crayons on paper first to try it! 🙂

I don’t know, Josee! Maybe it depends on the Sharpies, the glass, and the glaze??? I’m not going to put mine in the dishwasher, but so far they’re holding up to washing by hand just fine. Fingers crossed!!! (But we should probably just get the markers Natalie has and then we wouldn’t have to worry, right?) 🙂
