Pin-Up Menu Board

Board PinnedAfter seeing all the creative menu boards on Pinterest, I decided it would be fun to have one in our kitchen. However, I needed a tall, narrow version to fit the best spot for it, so I decided to go with a pin-up board. I made it out of cardboard, quilt batting, and fabric like the memo boards here, here, here, and here. The adorable fabric is left over from my “Mix Things Up Apron” and purchased from Laura at LC’s Cottage. (Click here for a post with links to her lovely shop!) Then I found a bit of khaki-colored knit from my polo shirt upcycle and embroidered the word “Menus” to affix to the top, finishing it off with a small length of ric-rac trim. Since I had everything on hand, the cost was $0 . . . my kind of project! šŸ™‚ And the two recipes are perfect complements to your favorite enchiladas! The “Corn Bake” has been in my husband’s family for a long time, and the dip is from a magazine ad. I’ll write an easier-to-read copy below!Ā  ā™„

Salsa and Sour Cream Dip

  • One 16-ounce jar of salsa
  • One 16-ounce container of sour cream
  • 1 envelope of taco seasoning mix

Combine all ingredients; mix well, and chill. Serve with tortilla chips.

  1. What a creative idea great for upgrading Memo Board, Bulletin Boards, etc. A great way for a new look in the kitchen. Very nice, and thank you for sharing Katherine. Be Blessed, Mtetar

  2. Looks cute! Also funny: I never heard of biscuit mix or creamed corn before! Never seen it in a Dutch supermarket! Learning new things every day, hahaha šŸ˜€

  3. Now, that’s an awesome menu (and the “board” aint bad, either!)! I/we love that dip!! The ‘Corn Bake’ would be a hit in my house…for sure! Thanks for the share!!!!!! Hugs, D

  4. Cute idea! I’m not sure where I’d put up a menu board in my kitchen, though. I really don’t have a lot of wall space.

As for the recipes, that dip sounds delicious. šŸ™‚

Reading the list of ingredients for the corn bake, however, made my stomach twist a little. My mom ruined cream corn for me when she tried to make soup out of it by adding milk. It really turned my stomach and sitting at the table one noon-time made me late for school because mom wouldn’t let me go until I ate it. By that time it was cold and really revolting! I haven’t eaten it since! Perhaps mixed with the tomatoes and cheese, I might be able to push past the fact there is cream corn in it! lol
