One of my sweet daughters-in-law just moved AND got a new classroom (see Embroidered Classroom Poster), so I had fun sewing valences for both places. For the kindergarten room, I found a crayon print on the sale table at my local Hancock Fabrics and bought a yard of alphabet/number print for a contrast border. For the dining nook, Jen and Greg chose a green/blue plaid from Fabric.com and I found a matching blue trim at Jo-Ann. They’re in the mail to their new homes! ♥
very cute…Reminds me of the curtains (Crayon pattern on bright blue) we had
in our kitchen area at school… where we did baking with our special kids…
But,they weren’t homemade… that makes them quite special!
I LOVE curtains at school! And rugs . . . and lamps . . . and rocking chairs . . . anything to make it homey! 🙂
I do too…well, I did …Sometimes a table lamp made for a better…more peaceful atmosphere…
Those are so cute. It’s wonderful that your dil decorates her classroom, the ones around here have generic shades and nothing more on the windows.
Awww . . . that was part of the fun of being a teacher for me! 🙂
Very cute – and what a lovely thing for you to do!
Aww . . . they were fun! Curtains are so relaxing to sew . . . just lots and lots of straight seams! 🙂
Love the crayon fabric! It is so nice to have a classroom that is decorated in such bright colors. The students love it too! I hope she posts a picture once these are hung in her classroom!
That’s a great idea . . . I’ll have to ask her for one! 🙂
Love the fabric choices. I would love to see pictures of them hanging in their new homes! I am sure they will make the classroom extra cozy.
Thank you! And Jen promised to send photos when she has them up! 🙂
Great! I am planning to sew valances for my craft room and a couple of bedrooms in the house. I have the fabric but I haven’t made the time yet to get them sewn and mounted. I think I need some inspiration to get going on the project.
Can’t wait to see them! It’s a relaxing project to me . . . straight seams . . . rather mindless . . . a time to daydream! 🙂
Love that for a classroom. the kids will too.
Thank you, Liz! I think they will, too! I always made curtains first thing for my new classrooms to make them more homey. 🙂
