Remember when my dad gave me a huge stash of vintage earrings to use for my fabric flowers awhile back? Well, he’s done it again, but this time it’s (drum roll!) . . . bow ties! How cool is that! I have all sorts of ideas popping into my head for ways to use them, but I’d LOVE to hear yours, too! In fact, if your suggestion is one of the first three I get a chance to try, I’ll mail you one of the black ties to use in a project of your own! THANK YOU! ♥

How about use them as hair berrets! Hugz Blondie
Your idea is now on my to-do list! Please email me your address at k_scraper@hotmail.com so I can send your tie!
How cool is that. And some pretty ones too. My dad always wore bow ties, never ever saw him in a “real” tie. So your post brings back some nice memories of him. Thanks.
My grandfather was the same way! It looked so classy, didn’t it?
What if you made a pillow or set of pillow that look like the top of tuxedos. That’d be pretty cute!
Your idea is now on my to-do list!! Please email me your address at k_scraper@hotmail.com so I can send your tie!
How cool are they. Can’t wait to see what you make with them.
Regards Florence x
Thank you, Florence! I know I’ll have fun!
I know you’re looking for ideas for the colorful ties, but I picture a pair of the black ones sewn flat (front to back, like straps) at the shoulders of a cute tank a-line girls’ dress. Maybe a pillowcase dress made from a bold black/white print?
Or maybe a little a la mode for the drop waist of a girls’ dress in coordinating colors?
Of course any of them would make great embellishments for your wristlets or other purses.
LOVE!!! Thank you for all these great ideas, Tiffany! I can’t wait to try them!
How cool is that!? I read all the comments and people have amazing ideas! Love the tux pillow one!
i bet you just can’t wait to start on these…
I can’t! Not this week, though . . . but soon!
P.S. I hope your package arrives soon, too!
How about using them somehow on table mats, or table decorations- I can see them with candles, or as part of a flower arrangement.
Your idea is now on my to-do list!!! Please email me your address at k_scraper@hotmail.com so I can send your tie!
The tuxedo pillow idea made me think of weddings. A cute wedding gift might be a tuxedo pillow and a “bride” pillow made with lace and pearl buttons, or remnants from a wedding dress found at a thrift store.
Also, I know we made a slotted fabric-covered box for our wedding. Guests giving cards at the reception put them in the box. After the wedding we used it to store wedding keepsakes like our cake-topper, favors, cards, dried flowers and such. What if you used a black bow tie to make a tuxedo box?
Wow, you’re amazing!!! THANK YOU!
They’re kind of like butterflies, aren’t they? I can spot a couple that could be paired together as a butterfly a la mode for a pillow- maybe one of your tooth fairy pillows for a girl? Add a little embroidery for antennae and a dotted flight line!
LOVE!!!!!! I can’t WAIT to try all these creative ideas! Thanks a MILLION!
You just gave me a great idea! I am going to make some of these to glue around the bottom and top of a little square lampshade. It’s plain white and I’ve been wanting to dress it up, but wasn’t sure what I wanted to do…now I know! Thanks:)
Yay! That will be super-classy! I can’t wait to see it!

Bowties are great. Can’t wait to see what you’ll come up with. I’ve been flirting with the bowtie idea for some time – just haven’t stumbled upon the right fabric for the project…but it’ll come I’m sure.
Hmm . . . you may have just given me an excuse to go to the fabric store! I wonder if they have bow-tie fabric . . . and I could embellish it with a real tie . . .
Can’t wait to see what you come up with, too!
Ha ha. That’s great. You’re very welcome…wish I could go buy more fabric – but I sort of promised myself I would make things of what I have already…which is A LOT…but bowtie time will come…:D
I made myself the same promise, so it may be awhile for me, too.
Happy sewing!
Vintage bow ties are very cool. What a lucky lady to have such a find! There were so many creative ideas posted already, I can’t think of anything new. Good luck with your projects. I’m sure you’ll come up with something fantastic!
Thank you! I can’t wait to try them out! I miss my sewing machine right now, but it’s for a good cause . . . an important writing deadline!
